FAYETTE COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY will continue to have zoom meetings.  June 21 Zoom meeting. The program “Japanese War Brides’ will be presented by Brad Bear which is the story of the US servicemen and Japanese women they married during the American occupation of Japan after WWII.  The program begins at 7 pm and sign in begins at 6:45 pm.  Please mute your audio at 7 pm to help eliminate background noise.  See you on the 21st. Our next meeting is Monday, April 19, 2021, at 7:00 PM.  For information about signing on, contact Cathy White at reunionmassie@yahoo.com or Sue Gilmore at suegilmore@yahoo.com.

Welcome to the website for the Fayette County Genealogical Society located in Washington Court House, Ohio. We meet at the Carnegie Public Library, 127 South North Street, in the meeting room at 7:00 pm on the third Monday of the months March through November, with the exception of May.  In May we celebrate our First Family members with a dinner (location named later) and in December we have our Christmas party at another location.

REMINDER:  It's time to pay dues, no later than March 31.  Your membership dues pay for the 4 newsletters that we send to you every year.  We have 2 researchers, Cathy White and Peggy Lester, who will look up information for members.  We charge for copies, but would appreciate donations.  Your membership entitles you to request applications for our 3 Lineage Societies:  First Families, Century Families and Civil War Families.  The $20 application fee covers the certificate and pin that you will receive when your application is accepted.

We are proud to announce that we have 5 members added to our Lineage Societies.  Senath Rankin proved her ancestors for First Families, Century Families and Civil War Families.  Kitturah Westenhouser proved her ancestor for Civil War Families.  Bob Grim proved his ancestors for Century Families and Civil War Families.  Butch Graham and his son Bryan proved their ancestors for Century Families and Civil War Families.  Congratulations to all of them!  We will be honoring them with a dinner in May 2021 to present their pins and certificates.

If you are interested in joining our society, the membership is only $10.00 per year.  There is a membership application form on our Publications for Sale page.

Civil War Families of Fayette County applications are available.  To become a member, you must have had an ancestor who served in the Civil War (North or South) and resided in Fayette County before or after the war.  Membership application nonrefundable fee is $20 and you must be a current member of the society ($10 dues per year).  Deadline for this year's applications are February 1, 2018.  There will be a Lineage Society dinner in May when new members will receive a pin and a certificate for their success. You may request an application from me suegilmore@yahoo.com, or by writing to Lineage Committee-FCGS, P.O. Box 342, Washington C.H., OH 43160.  You may also obtain one at our monthly meetings.

Century Families of Fayette County applications are available.  To be a member of this society, you have to prove that you had an ancestor residing in Fayette County by 31 December 1916.  Application fees and deadline dates are the same as the Civil War and First Families.

First Families of Fayette County applications are available. To be eligible for First Families of Fayette County your ancestor must have resided in Fayette County by 31 December 1820.

DON'T FORGET:  Bring in your Ancestor Charts.  Ancestor charts list you, your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and great great-grandparents and their birth, marriage and death dates.  We'd like to know who your ancestors were and if they lived in Fayette County before 1830.  If they did, you could belong to First Families!

Bring along some money and purchase or order one of our books.

Check out our publications page.  You may place your order at FCGS, P.O. Box 342, Washington C.H., OH 43160-0342.
