Welcome to the website for the Fayette County Genealogical Society located in Washington Court House, Ohio. We meet at the Carnegie Public Library, 127 South North Street, in the meeting room at 7:00 pm on the third Monday of the months March through November, with the exception of May.  In May we celebrate our First Family members with a dinner (location named later) and in December we have our Christmas party at another location.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the society will not meet in May.  That means we will not have our annual Lineage Society Recognition Dinner.  The dinner has been rescheduled for Monday, December 21, 2020, at which time we will also have our Christmas party.  A decision will be made at a later date about the June meeting.
We are working on our next newsletter, which will come out sometime in June.  We are concentrating on graduations and the Spanish flu epidemic.  We would appreciate members submitting graduation photos, stories and memories, and any articles about the Spanish flu and if it affected your family.
Deadline for stories is June 10, to be published by the end of June.
You can send them to me at suegilmore@yahoo.com or mail to 947 Noyes Drive, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068.

Please consider submitting a short article for our newsletter. We want the newsletter to be written by members.   We are also taking queries about your ancestors - that will be a new column in the newsletter.

If you are interested in joining our society, the membership is only $10.00 per year.  There is a membership application form on our Publications for Sale page.

Civil War Families of Fayette County applications are available.  To become a member, you must have had an ancestor who served in the Civil War (North or South) and resided in Fayette County before or after the war.  Membership application nonrefundable fee is $20 and you must be a current member of the society ($10 dues per year).  Deadline for this year's applications are February 1, 2018.  There will be a Lineage Society dinner in May when new members will receive a pin and a certificate for their success. You may request an application from me suegilmore@yahoo.com, or by writing to Lineage Committee-FCGS, P.O. Box 342, Washington C.H., OH 43160.  You may also obtain one at our monthly meetings.

Century Families of Fayette County applications are available.  To be a member of this society, you have to prove that you had an ancestor residing in Fayette County by 31 December 1916.  Application fees and deadline dates are the same as the Civil War and First Families.

First Families of Fayette County applications are available. To be eligible for First Families of Fayette County your ancestor must have resided in Fayette County by 31 December 1820.

DON'T FORGET:  Bring in your Ancestor Charts.  Ancestor charts list you, your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and great great-grandparents and their birth, marriage and death dates.  We'd like to know who your ancestors were and if they lived in Fayette County before 1830.  If they did, you could belong to First Families!

Bring along some money and purchase or order one of our books.

Check out our publications page.  You may place your order at FCGS, P.O. Box 342, Washington C.H., OH 43160-0342.
