The 65 km race, on the Umzimkulu River around Underberg, was from Castleburn bridge near Garden Castle on the Drakensberg Gardens road to Umzimkulu River Lodge on the Coleford Road.

The river was at a medium level and the weather was perfect – warm and sunny.

Total entry was 171 paddlers showing strong growth in its third running from 52 at the first race in 2009 and 96 in 2010.
