    The Finnish American Studies Association (FASA)

    WHAT IS FASA?

    The Finnish American Studies Association (FASA) is a registered Finnish organization the aim of which is to encourage and promote academic study in Finland of the United States and its civilization, and to facilitate communication and contact between those interested in such studies. The title of the association in Finnish is Suomen Yhdysvaltain tutkimuksen seura  ry. FASA is also a member organization of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies  (TSV). The members receive the biannual American Studies is Scandinavia, the electronic newsletters of both the Nordic Association for American Studies and the European Association for American Studies. FASA also organizes seminars and offers travel grants.

    2014: Mikko Saikku (President, University of Helsinki), Pirjo Ahokas (Vice-president, University of Turku), Paula Saari (Secretary, University of Helsinki), Jopi Nyman (University of Eastern Finland), Ari Helo (University of Oulu), and Elmo Rissanen (Treasurer, University of Helsinki).

    FOR MEMBERS FASA OFFERS

    Members of the Finnish American Studies Association automatically belong to the Nordic Association for American Studies (NAAS) as well as to the European Association for American Studies (EAAS).
    Members of the FASA receive a scholarly publication, the biannual American Studies in Scandinavia. This interdisciplinary journal publishes articles drawing upon fields such as geography, history, linguistics, literature, political science, social anthropology, and sociology. In addition to the American Studies in Scandinavia, members receive the electronic NAAS Newsletter and American Studies in Europe. Members are furthermore eligible to attend and deliver presentations at the conferences organized by the NAAS and other EAAS member organizations.

    TO JOIN FASA

    To join the Finnish American Studies Association, please pay your membership fee for this year (full year memberships only) and then contact FASA President Mikko Saikku via email mikko.saikku(at)helsinki.fi to inform us of your current postal and email addresses.

    Your membership fee is payable to FASA, and the bank account (in Finland) is:
