Hi, I am Farig Sadeque, and welcome to my website!
I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University, Dhaka. Where I teach and research on natural language processing and artificial intelligence. I also teach computational linguistics at the Department of Linguistics, University of Dhaka. Currently I am UNESCO's national AI advisor in Bangladesh, and I also lead the AI team at mPower Social Enterprises Ltd.
Before starting my career in Bangladesh, I worked as an Associate Research Scientist at Educational Testing Service (ETS). Before that, I was a Research Fellow at the Computational Health Informatics Program (CHIP), in Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital. My supervisor is Dr. Tim Miller. We work on natural language processing innovations in the field of biomedical informatics.
I completed my PhD in Information Science with a minor in Computer Science from the School of Information, University of Arizona. My thesis title was User Behavior in Social Media: Engagement, Incivility and Depression. My suervisor was Dr. Steven Bethard.
My areas of expertise are machine learning, natural language processing, data science and social media analysis.
