Pauline Sechi, George Speer and Carvill Veech will demonstate the details of Design Mechanics, Backgrounds, Underlayments, Containers/non-containers, etc. Start the year off right.

                        2:00 p.m. - Program: Michelle Castellano Keeler: “Flowers for Cutting” Michelle, from Mellano Farms, will discuss the past, present, and future of the cut flower business in terms of the issues facing cut flower growers and agriculture as a whole. Mellano & Company has been a wholesale distributor of cut flowers since 1925. They have 375 acres under cultivation in the San Luis Rey Valley and continue to incorporate new technologies that are light years away from its founding days.

                    2:00 p.m. - Program: Dave Freed: “The Tomato Guy” Dave is considered the Orange County tomato expert. He has designed a unique self watering system which can be easily built at home. This system has produced 50 pounds of tomatoes from just one plant! In addition, Dave will explain how watering, temperature, mulching, pollination, and fertilizing all play a role in a delicious, juicy tomato!.

Watch as local college student designers race against the clock to complete a Surprise Package design from material, container and theme. Then, like a 3-ring circus, they show a “signature design”, a “round robin” and a “wrap up” design.

                    2:00 p.m. - Program: Elaine Bryan: “Growing your own food with a Tower Garden.” Elaine will show us how to grow our own food using Tower Gardens which are self sufficient and can be used almost anywhere. They provide a sustainable form of growing fresh food that uses 90% less water, saves space, and time. She is a registered yoga teacher and nutritional counselor, as well as a nutrition educator for Oceanside elementary school.

He is a popular speaker at many garden clubs and at the San Diego Horticulture society. He has been involved in the San Diego Farm Bureau, and is a founding director for the Palomar College Arboretum. He is an enthusiastic supporter of these beautiful and exotic plants.
