            2:00 p.m. - Program: Carol Post: "History and Lore of Tea." Carol is from the popular Old Town Spice & Tea Merchants in Temecula. Her lecture will focus on tea: where it comes from, different types and beneficial effects it can produce, and its history. Her shop offers over 250 fresh, high quality spices, herbs and blends…a wonderful assortment of loose-leaf teas and accessories…fine sea salts and rices from around the world as well as unique spice racks, grinders, mortar and pestles.

Susan comes to us from 2 Blushing Blooms in Major Market, and will share her creative skills at unique and beautiful flower arranging. She will demonstrate how to put together striking arrangements with some unique flowers just in time for the holiday.

           12:30 p.m. - Palomar District Floral Design Forum: New Designs from National Garden Clubs. Education, Inspiration and Enjoyment – just in time for the Spring Flower Show Season. Over 20 designs, arranged like a FS, to view and learn about as NGC Judges explain the ins and outs of each one. Also see innovative ways to display Horticultural specimens.

            2:00 p.m. - Program: Diane Kennedy: "Food, Permaculture and the Humor of Living." Diane owns Finch Frolic in Fallbrook. Permaculture is a system of agricultural and social design principles centered around simulating or directly utilizing the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems. Her presentation will include easy to create examples for the home garden.

Watch as local college student designers race against the clock to complete a Surprise Package design from material, container and theme. Then, like a 3 ring circus, they show a “signature Design,” a “round robin,” and then a “wrap up” design.

            HAPPY BIRTHDAY FGC - 87 years

            2:00 p.m. - Program: Fred Clarke: "Care and Breeding of New Orchid Hybrids." Fred started Sunset Valley Orchids in 1995 as a natural outgrowth of a hobby that began 27 years earlier. SVO is a “boutique” style nursery dedicated to providing excellent customer service and breeding superior orchid hybrids for the orchid enthusiast. He is an accredited American Orchid Society Judge in the Pacific South Judging Region.

            2:00 p.m. - Program: "Stephen Cantu: "Making Gardening Accessible to all Ages and Abilities.” Stephen is a Master Gardener, woodworker, journeyman, and carpenter. He consults on accessibility and ADA compliance, and is a wheel-chair athlete (’88 and ’92 Paralympics). He gardens on a two-acre hillside in Bonita, where he has a small vineyard and fruit orchard, a cactus garden, and a vegetable garden.

            2:00 p.m. - Program: Diane Hazard: "Waterwise Gardening in San Diego County." Diane is Director of Education at the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization that focuses on Zero Waste, composting, and water conservation. They mobilize the local community through innovative outreach and provide consulting services to businesses and jurisdictions in order to address the region’s most pressing environmental issues and enact impactful change. She will discuss how to reduce waste, conserve water and build healthy and sustainable soil.
