Our House

We closed on our house in mid December 2007 and moved just before Christmas. We've did a ton of painting in a short amount of time. We 're still getting settled and are slowly adding the finishing touches.

 Outside view of the house

Front Yard - We're going to trim down the bushes that have been made into trees on the far right side and create a row of hedges.

Front Yard UPDATES:

Coming Soon!

Kitchen Pictures Before:

The awful kitchen border and it coming down

Kitchen After:

The color is Berry Brandy by Valspar

My Baker's Rack from Target. It's great since I don't have much cabinet or counter space.

Love my pantry. It's still a bit messy though.

Tile in entry way and kitchen/wood in living room. Old picture, not our rug.

Kitchen UPDATES:

Added curtains

We also bought a new table from Pier 1

and added artwork and hung wine racks. They were a steal over the holidays at the Pottery Barn Outlet. They were each 75% off!

Our 1 year anniversary present to each other - a new fridge!

Living Room Before:

Living room. Don't you love the salmon colored paint? On the left is the door leading out to the patio and backyard.

Close up of fireplace. The paint that was used on it has this sandy texture to it. It's going to be fun getting it off. We're also going to put tile down in front.

Living Room After Pics:

Paint Color is Antique by Valspar

I want to eventually get new couches. These are from Pier 1, coffee table from Bombay, rug from Lowes. John just got Guitar Hero. Riley on the left, Reese on the right.

John would be sad if I didn't show his TV. We need to get a bigger stand, probably one that allows you to mount it. The chair will be moved to the spare room soon.

This wall is to the right of the TV and leads into the kitchen.

Hallway leading to the bedrooms. Hall bath on the right, master straight ahead, washer and dryer closet on the left.

Took down the vertical blinds and added curtains.

John added surround sound and we got a new TV stand that actually fits our TV. His sister gave us her old computer and now we've got a computer hooked up to the TV. It's great for watching movies.

I moved in two chairs out of the guest room and into here for extra seating. Our next purchase will probably be a new sofa and loveseat.

New Sconces from Target

I hung wedding pictures in the hallway as well as floating shelves. It was a great way to hold momentos from the wedding. By the door we hung some masks we bought on our honeymoon in Jamaica.

Hall Bath Before:

Hall bath. It's the only room in the entire house that has a paint color we can live with. We think the whole house used to be this yellow color since we can see it poking through all over the house. You also have to love the pink counter tops!

Hall Bath After:

We added the towel ring as well as the cabinet. We left the color in here for now.

Guest Room Before:

The Guest aka Parrot Room. The picture doesn't capture the true colors of the fabric/wallpaper or the green walls. Here's a close up of the parrot fabric. The garland is a nice accent.

 Guest Room After:

We still have a lot of work we want to do in here. It also needs some paint and some more organization. This room has been collecting many things.

Guest Room UPDATES:

We're still working on things in here. We moved the TV cabinet out, it was almost falling apart. We put the TV stand from the living room in here. Obviously there is still an unpacked box of pictures that need to be hung throughout the house. It still needs some paint and John's speaker wires need to be covered up.

The mirrors we bought at Ikea and stained.

Reese is smiling at you!

Office Before:

The office. Again, the color isn't so bad in this one. It's more of a blue than green though.

Office After:

Paint Color is Antique by Valspar

It's also a music room

My new desk set. I don't actually sit there much so this will work for now. We've also painted the trim in here. I just need to take new pictures!

The rocking ceiling fan that we didn't know was there until after we bought the house.

Master Bedroom Before:

Master Bedroom. It's white with black trim and accents. Who paints trim black?

Close up of the trim and carpet. I want to put wood flooring in here before we move.

Master Bedroom After:

The color is Cornflower Blue by Valspar. It's more of a grey blue than how it looks in the picture

Our bed. I'm waiting on new bedding and I want to make a head board soon. The night stand was a great find at Target. It was even preassembled!

No more black trim!

Close up of the paint color.

Master Bedroom UPDATES

Soon! New bedding, wall decor and a few bathroom updates!

Here's the bedding I bought. I just need to take a picture.

Master Bath Before:

Master bath. Again, the pink counter top with the black cabinets.

Master Bath After:

We added the white cabinet in here too. We've also painted the black cabinet white, just need to add new pictures in here as well.

Back Yard:

The deck. It's the main reason we love the house and don't mind painting.

Tiny backyard. We're taking out the awful looking Mimosa Tree.

Close up of the poor looking Mimosa.

This is how we got rid of the Mimosa. How else do you occupy a 7 yr old when the whole house is covered in wet paint?
