DIGITAL FABRICATION for STEM Teaching and Learning

Based on demand from schools and community organizations for K-12 STEM digital fabrication and hands-on, project-based activities, this project is bringing together informal educators from the international Fab Lab and Maker communities with formal education organizations that host or work with Fab Labs as platforms for STEM learning to: (1) conduct workshops for knowledge exchange and consolidation of best practices in STEM digital fabrication education, (2) to develop a framework for teacher professional development (K-12) and (3) to develop teacher modules that support educators interested in teaching STEM using digital fabrication and trans-disciplinary, hands-on learning environments. The long-term goal of this project is bringing together a community of practice to create shared resources of effective materials and teaching strategies based on hands-on learning and digital fabrication for STEM educators in the U.S. and around the world — a platform for scaling best practices in these trans-disciplinary learning environments.
