G Tree that includes STR marker categories

A G tree that includes preliminary positions of many SNPs found in whole sequencing 


The additional categories in blue here are based on shared STR marker values and will be replaced if SNP equivalents are identified.
 
The chart here suggests in many cases that STR marker categories are parallel to other STR categories.  But there are categorization limitations as to STR categories. Some may actually be subbranches of one of the other items listed or vice versa.  Only SNPs can resolve this.  Despite such uncertainty about placement in the tree, each of the categories does contain persons with a shared ancestor.  
 
The STR subgroups shown had to meet strict criteria, including typically having other members of the group as nearest matches when comparing 67 markers.  This criterion also helps to identify the rare person who has recently mutated out of the group.  Being subject to new mutations is another limitation of STR markers.  The marker values used to identify STR categories here represent (1) a rare change in a slowly mutating marker OR (2) a multi-value change well out of range of other persons in nearby branches OR (3) a combination of similar rare findings.
