Life Along the Nile

The Nile river is the lifeline of Egypt. This is because it is the main water source for Egyptians, past and present. Without the presence of the Nile River, the area would be an arid desert. Egyptians use the Nile for many reasons:
  • Drinking water
  • Bathing
  • Farming
  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • It provided fish
  • Supported plants and animals
  • Trade routes between Egyptian villages
  • Transportation

Can you think of any other ways the Nile could have been used?
