The resources on this site were originally shared at the 50th Southeastern Business and Marketing Education Conference at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA on February 1, 2013. The theme of the conference was "Meeting the 21st Century Education Challenge." The site is currently maintained as part of the Wilkes County School System's Career Development Center. Students at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School are welcome to contact me; Mrs. Callaway, high school counselor; or Ms. Norman, middle school counselor to schedule an appointment to discuss career and education options.

The Career Awareness page shares information about the nation's Career Clusters and Georgia's 17 Career Clusters. Watch the videos linked to learn about those clusters. The Career Clusters, Pathways & Career Options pages share lists of careers organized by cluster and pathway. The clusters represented are Business, Management & Administration; Finance; Information Technology; Marketing, Sales & Service; and Hospitality & Tourism (Marketing).

The Career Exploration & Planning page displays links to a variety of websites beneficial for students' career exploration, awareness, and planning.

Visit the College Exploration page to learn about opportunities to continue your education in Washington locally, our region, state, and nation. Use the College Navigator to help you find the right college.

The Federal Career Planning Resources page shares links to additional career cluster information, an excellent education and career exploration website called CareerOneStop, and resources from the U. S. Department of Labor.

The Georgia Career Planning Resources page shares links for Georgia-based postsecondary education and career exploration websites, publications from the Georgia Department of Labor, and information about Georgia's postsecondary education systems.

If you think you may be interested in pursuing a career in the U.S. Armed Forces, check out the Military Career Exploration page. There you will find information about all of your military career options, from the U.S. Air Force to the Army National Guard.

The Dual Enrollment page shares information about opportunities for students to
receive high school and college credit simultaneously when attending and passing approved college classes.

If you want to find out about resources to help finance your education, visit the Paying for Your Education page. If you want to go to school, you can. Money is out there. Explore the resources on this page for state and national financial assistance resources. There is even NCAA information and guidance for the college-bound athlete.

Your career opportunities are endless and we want you to explore them all. As new resources are discovered, they will be added to the website. If you find resources that you think should be added to the website, please feel free to share them with me.

Happy Exploring!
