ExploreDB 2016 Travel Award

Thanks to the support from LogicBlox, we will provide 2 scholarship awards to selected students attending the ExploreDB Workshop. The scholarships will include financial support for traveling and workshop registration. Awardees will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.

Applicants need to be a full-time student (undergraduate or graduate). Applicants do not need to have an accepted paper to the workshop to be eligible. However, students who are primary authors of an accepted paper are especially encouraged to apply. Applications from minority students are especially encouraged.

Application Procedure

To apply for a grant, the student must submit the necessary materials through an e-mail at senjutib -at- uw.edu and kstef -at- ics.forth.gr no later than May 2, 2016. Students are encouraged to have the applications sent as soon as possible. Applications arriving after the deadline will not be considered. The notification date is May 5, 2016. Please submit the following materials (in a single PDF file) with your application:
  • Student's full name and email address.
  • Name and address of student's school.
  • Advisor's full name and email address.
  • A brief statement from the student, summarizing his/her research related to the workshop theme (e.g., motivation, problem description, approach, publications); the statement should not exceed one page and can be organized as a bulleted list.
  • A 1-2 page CV of the student.
  • A letter of support from the advisor. The letter should be brief, not exceeding one page, and explain if the student is in good academic standing and why/how the workshop would benefit his/her research.
