154 Vice Presidents and Secretaries of the Parish Councils representing 94 parishes of the Archdiocese of Bombay (excluding Raigad deanery) attended an interactive and participatory training programme on November 18, at Salvation Church Hall, Dadar.

The session began with the "personal" perception oriented exercise about a Parish Council, and then clarifying the roles of the Council and the Councillor. Principles involved in making the Parish Council efficient and effective were discussed. Fr Felix D'Souza explained the guidelines for the Elections to be held in all the parishes, vis-à-vis the new term of the Parish Council.

Questions were asked about the transparency required at the Council and the procedure involved in holding meetings. Fr Felix D'Souza responded to all these queries based on the Parish Council Constitution. Information was given regarding the proper composition of a Parish Council. Queries on the term of office and the understanding of what constitutes "pastoral" were discussed and proposed for the next agenda.

Bishop Allwyn D'Silva met all religious men and women who are lawyers and practising in our Archdiocese at Salvation Kendra, Dadar on October 18, 2018, and gave a brief introduction about the Catholic Lawyers Guild. Topics on how we can contribute to ease the pain of the needy were discussed. A pledge was taken to render complete support, expertise and service to the archdiocese. On November 1, 2018, Fr Neil dos Santos conducted a session to understand marriage from the Church perspective. The Church upholds the unity and sanctity of marriage. Unlike civil law, the Church is concerned with strengthening marriage. Clarifications helped us to realise that Canon Law and Civil Law go hand in hand, yet we have to bear in mind that the Church law differs from the civil law, especially when it comes to separation of the couple.
