Catholic Lawyers Guild Mumbai (CLGM)

Catholic Lawyers Guild Mumbai (CLGM) is celebrating its 6th Annual Feast of its Patron, Saint Thomas More, on Saturday June 23, 2018 at Our Lady of Salvation Church, Dadar. Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 10:00 am by Bishop Allwyn D'Silva. The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the Guild will be held at 11:00 am, followed by lunch and fellowship at 12:30 pm.

Laity Sunday 2018

Laity Sunday is being celebrated on June 24, 2018. All parishes are requested to publicly commission all the Heads of Cells and Associations functioning in the parish, and contributing to its pastoral growth, during the main Mass on Laity Sunday.

To help you to celebrate Laity Sunday meaningfully, the liturgy prepared by the Office for Lay Collaboration in Ministry (OLCM) is being sent to all parishes. A list of the Cells and Associations of your parish, along with the names of their Heads and Asst. Heads is on the OLCM website (www.olcmbom.org). Kindly update the list of names, mobile numbers and e-mail addresses in order to facilitate communication. The OLCM representatives will contact your parish office to help you with this task.

The Office for Lay Collaboration in Ministry (OLCM) is also organising an Archdiocesan gathering of lay Heads on the same evening (Sunday, June 24) at 4:30 pm at Dr Antonio da Silva School Hall, Dadar (W). You are requested to contact your deanery OLCM animator or the OLCM Office, Marydell 1, Flat No. 19, 3rd floor, Soonawala Agiary Marg, Mahim (call on 98195 85747) for the required number of entry passes for the evening's function.

DBCL wins gold

As part of the selection process for World Skills Competition 2019, slated to be held in Delhi in July, seven students from Don Bosco Centre for Learning participated in the Regional Skills Competition, organised by the National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC) in Jaipur from May 24 to 26.

Russel Fernandes, Chandan Nishad, Saifali Khan, Rohit Kharatmol, Aakash Pawar, Shivaim Shukla and Belim Hanif participated in the regional competition. The participants are currently taking courses in automotive technology, auto body repair, air-condition and heating, car painting, electronics and plumbing.

The participants were trained and mentored at St Joseph Industrial Training Institute (SJITI) and industry partners like Toyota, Grohe and Daikin. The competition was designed to showcase the highest standards of skill in India and provide a platform for the youth to explore various career opportunities in the skill ecosystem. More than 200 contestants from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana participated.

Khan from St Joseph ITI (Don Bosco Kurla) won Gold in air-condition and heating, and will now represent Maharashtra at the national competition. The contestants were asked to prepare a refrigeration unit from scratch, and he successfully completed the task. He was awarded a gold medal and a cash price of Rs 21,000.
