Eco-dome

Note: While this project is not led by EWB-UCLA, it is very much in line with the spirit of our group, and it is a great opportunity to learn about sustainable building.

Dustin James is building an Eco-dome at a small non-profit retirement house in Northern Baja. He is applying sustainable building techniques learned from the Cal Earth institute, which makes use of sandbags and soil as the main building blocks.

"This home will be approximately 400 sq ft. and will serve as a house for a young Mexican couple that has devoted themselves to serving elderly men and help them die with community and dignity."

Opportunities are available in both design and on-site construction. Trips are made to the site about twice a month.
