    Sampson is an Environmental Research Scientist with Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, Accra Ghana. He holds a B.Ed in science from the University of Education Winneba (Ghana). Sampson received his M. Phil in Nuclear and Environmental Protection from University of Ghana with special focus on environmental toxicology and policy analysis in Ghana. He brings with him several years working experience as a Chemistry Teacher in Ghana. Presently he is undertaking extensive study on the distribution of heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the urban environment resulting from e-waste disposal  
                                             and recycling in Ghana.

    Azadeh Dindarian

    Azadeh is currently a PhD student at School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the University of Manchester.
    Azadeh’s research interests focus on understanding and analysing functionality of WEEE at the disposal point and environmental, social and economic benefits of reuse of WEEE over recycling in the United Kingdom. She has also developed interests on the effectiveness and eco-efficiency of remanufacturing/re-use of WEEE, reverse and closed loop supply chain management.

    Charisios Achillas

    Dr. Charisios Achillas is a Researcher at the School of Economics and Business Administration, International Hellenic University. He graduated in 1999 from Aristotle University's Mechanical Engineering Department. He then continued with an MSc in Engineering Project Management from UMIST, Manchester, UK. In 2009 he was granted with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University Thessaloniki in the field of integrated waste management of industrial products and optimisation of reverse logistics networks. Since 2003, he has been involved in several domestic and European projects related to environmental management and sustainable development.

    Eduardo Luís Mesquita Santos

    Eduardo is a PhD student in Leaders for Technological Industries at Lisbon’s Technical University and holds an MsC in Engineering Design and a Degree in Environmental Engineering. On current research work he’s developing a method for optimizing industrial ecology processes in WEEE treatment. Over the last 8 years he also worked on the theme of waste management and the extended producer responsibility principle, while providing leading scientific support in several processes of creation of producer responsibility organizations in Portugal, its licensing by the state authorities and the implementation of take back schemes. He has helped develop and is an associate partner of a consultancy firm in engineering,
                                             environment and innovation in Portugal.

    Francesco Veltre

    Scuola Superiore  Sant'Anna of Pisa (Pisa, Italy)

    Veltre Francesco is currently doing a Second level Master  Degree in "Environment Management and control: tecniques and tecnologies for the waste Cycle" at the Scuola Superiore  Sant'Anna of Pisa , Italy. He has recently successfully completed a Master of Sciences in Waste and Resource Management at Cranfield University (UK).  During the final thesis he developed a first approach to a new methodology for determining waste composition by image analysis.  Before the MSc he has earned the Bachelor of engineering in Logistic and Production Engineering at Università di Pisa (Italy). He has been involved in some projects on e-waste during the University courses and on October
                                              he is going to start a PhD on the Italian WEEE management
                                              strategies and future developments.

    Graham Pickren

    Graham Pickren is a PhD candidate in the Geography Department at the University of Georgia.  His research focuses on the ways in which third-party certification and labeling schemes for electronics recyclers are impacting the industry, specifically in terms of how they shape the contested categories of 'waste' and 'value'.
    John C Babington

    John Babington Chibunna is a Nigerian and a third year PhD student in Environment and Development at the Institute for Environment and Development, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). His research aims to investigating the material flows and management practices for end-of-life EEEs in UKM and the management of e-waste at material recovery facilities (MRF) in Malaysia.  He has a Master of Science degree in Environmental Assessment and Monitoring at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
    Jonathon Hannon

    Jonathon Hannon is starting his PhD at Massey University in New Zealand. He is also the coordinator of the Zero Waste Academy, based at his university. His role involves teaching, research, contributing to campus sustainability and the development of training for the New Zealand recycling industry. Jonathon has extensive knowledge of and experience working with, the people, organisations and activities, related to the recycling sector in New Zealand. 
    Kassahun Yimer Kebede

    Addis Ababa University (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia)

    Kassahun studied Management of Technology (MSc, 2007) at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands and Industrial Engineering (BSc, 2004) at Mekelle University, Ethiopia.  He was working at Mekelle University until 2010. He is now a lecturer at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. His present research in e-waste
                               management focuses on assessing proper technologies and methods for e-
                               waste management and how to implement an EPR directive in Ethiopia.

    Logakanthi Subramanian

    Logakanthi is currently enrolled for her PhD with the School of environment and development at the University of Manchester. Her research looks at participation and role of bulk consumers in electronic waste management in developing countries using the case of the Indian IT sector. She has previously completed her Masters in Environmental management from University of East Anglia, Norwich. She has also completed a Masters in Environmental Biotechnology and M.Phil in Environmental Sciences from Anna University, Chennai, India. She has worked as a programme officer with a centre for excellence in environment education (CEE) in India. Before the commencement of her research degree she had worked as a
                                          researcher in Japan on an e-waste management study.
                                          Environmental management is her passion and focus.


    Maria Törn

    Maria is a PhD student at the Aalto University (Helsinki, Finland). Her area of interest is Waste Management, especially recycling. After she completed my Master’s degree (in Environmental Technology at Helsinki University of Technology) she first worked on a project creating environmental and quality management systems for a Forest products company. After the project came to an end, she found myself working within Waste Management. Before “returning” to the university for my PhD studies, she worked the last few years at YTV (waste management company of the Helsinki metropolitan area), as an environmental expert and later as environmental engineer.
    Natalia Milovantseva

    Natalia is a Ph.D. candidate in Social Ecology with a concentration in Environmental Analysis and Design at the University of California, Irvine. She has a background in economics, international studies, demography, and statistics. Her dissertation is an interdisciplinary inquiry to better understand public participation and corporate engagement in electronics production, consumption, and waste recycling in the U.S. and EU. She is also involved in developing a model which would help design the 'greenest' electronics. Her research has been recognised and supported by Research and Education in Green Materials and Honorable Mention Public Impact Fellowships. Natalia hopes to contribute knowledge for better informing policies aimed at controlling the stream of e-waste export to developing countries and protecting public health.

    Olusegun Odeyingbo

    Mr. Olusegun Odeyingbo is a Master graduate of Environmental and Resource Management from, Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus. His areas of interest include environmental protection and sustainable resource management. He undertook a study on   assessment of the drivers of used electrical electronic equipment (UEEE) flow into Nigeria and within Nigeria. The research assessed the economic, social and ecological impact of e-waste flow within Nigeria and provided detailed information on the topic.  The study was part of e-waste African project of BCCC, Nigeria, EMPA Switzerland and Oko institute, Germany.

    Sabaa Khan

    Sabaa Khan is a doctoral candidate and O’Brien Fellow in Human Rights and Legal Pluralism at McGill University, Faculty of Law and Member of the Barreau du Québec. Her research is focused on the interactions between international trading, human rights and environmental regimes on the issue of electronic wastes. Her current doctoral work examines how variances in legal definitions and real implementations of producer responsibility hinder or benefit the process of sustainable e-waste management across borders. 
    Sabrina Rodriguez Sousa

    Sabrina is a PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering Sciences at the University of São Paulo / School of Engineering of São Carlos (USP/EESC-Brazil). Since February (2011) she holds a researcher position at Center for Information Technology ‘Renato Archer’ (CTI), an institution of the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology, working in a project that aims to support Brazilian enterprises from the electrical and electronic sector in improving their sustainability levels – AMBIENTRONIC Project, focusing on the compliance with the Brazilian Solid Waste Policy and the RoHS / WEEE European Directives.

    Simon Maina Karume

    Simon is a second year PhD in Information Technology student at the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kakamega Kenya. His area of research is Sustainable technologies to mitigate e-waste from low cost computers in developing Nations. He is interested in developing a strategy that will be used to sustainably manage the life cycle of low cost computers while at the same time promoting reuse through
                                      refurbishment to bridge the digital divide in Africa. Previously he pursued
                                      an Msc. in computer based information systems at Sunderland university
                                      and Bsc in computing and Mathematics at Jomo Kenyatta University of
                                      Agriculture and Technology.

    Simonne Rufener

    ETH Zurich (Zurich, Switzerland)

    Within the Master of Advanced Studies at ETHZ, she is currently carrying out an 8 month project assignment with EMPA, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology, in Accra, Ghana. Mainly she is elaborating a clear overview of existing and planned activities in the field of e-waste collection, including dismantling and training centers, and making a cost/benefit calculation between direct, untreated cable export and export of
                                              shreddered cable fractions.

                                             She is part of the IMPEL network (Implementation and Enforcement
                                             of Environmental Law), that is carrying out the Secretariat of the
                                             Basel Convention (SBC)'s e-waste project component 4 in Africa.              
                                             This project focuses on enforcement issues.

    Valentina Tartiu
    Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies

    Valentina is currently completing her PhD thesis - “Economic-mathematical models applied in the area of municipal waste management”  within the Doctoral Studies Institute of  Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. She is involved in the exploratory research project “Modelling the Waste Management System for Electrical and Electronic Equipment in Romania in order to Optimize the Environmental Impact of  the Digital Economy”. Since 2008 she has worked as an assistant teacher in the Department of Management at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, where she teaches an
                                       introductory economic modelling course. Her research interests are
                                       related to sustainable development, systems dynamics modelling and
                                       environmental behaviour.

    Xinwen Chi

    University of Melbourne (Melbourne, Australia)

    Xinwen Chi received her MSc degree in Development Management in the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is now a PhD student in Department of Resource Management and Geography, the University of Melbourne. Before doing PhD, she worked in Umicore group for three years, being responsible for the company’s electronic waste recycling project in China. Her current research focuses on electronic waste recycling in developing countries, especially the recycling system design, management of informal recycling sector, and the interdependency between formal and informal recyclers.
