I am a researcher at Unidade de investigação em Eco-Etologia (ISPA-IU) and the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência. My research is focused in bioacoustics and migrationBioacoustics researcher is centered in parent offspring communication and biodiversity monitoring.

Research lines:

In Bioacoustics I am coordinating a research project in bioacoustic monitoring that aims to portrait the Portuguese Natural soundscape Project with a small dedicated research team. I am also studying the history of bioacoustics as an instrument to locate and rescue historical or at risk recordings. Both within the project Natural soundscapes in a changing world. Preserve the past and building the memories of the future. Additionally, we are profiling the current global coverage of biodiversity by bioacoustics to be used as the baseline to identify coverage gaps to direct recording efforts in the future and establish recordings preservation priority (see more http://ibac2013.blogspot.com.br/).
In this same context I am also involved in the assessment of the unpreserved acoustic biodiversity monitoring recordings to determine sample intensity.
Here is the form if you are interested in answer the survey.

I am the curator of the Natural Sounds Archive, MUHNAC and ISPA-IU.

Migration and wintering habits of gulls as part of the annual cycle framed within the animals life cycles during their lifespan,  namely the effect of age in the movement decisions of individuals.

Climate and the reproductions of birds currently we are focus in the study of temperature variation inside the nests and the effect of the nest type in the influence of ambient temperature in nest temperature.
Parent-offspring communication namely the signal honesty and the effect of the acoustic environment in the nestlings begging behaviour.
