Hurdles at School of St Yared Sports Day
The School of St Yared is an NGO and sponsor-supported school to seek out the poorest of poor children and offer them a world class education. This was their sports day, June 2004 in the Ethiopian calendar. By the end volunteers, teachers, and parents alike were all on the verge of tears with pride and with good reason - the children are absolutely incredible. Coming from the poorest families they are immensely grateful for the chance to attend school, and they treasure each and every moment they are there. Everyone who visits walks away floating on air.
