"Doing science that works."
The goal of the Ethical Decision-making and Ethical Naturalism Lab (EDEN) is to do science that works. This guiding principle dictates that science should not only be theoretically rigorous but should also help solve applied problems.
The EDEN Lab at Michigan Technological University is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. EDEN is an interdisciplinary lab, including philosophy, psychology, economics, and biology.
The EDEN lab has three main foci:
Individual differences in philosophical judgments about traditional philosophical issues ranging from freedom, knowledge, morality, and intentional action.
Applied ethics in domains such as health, medicine, law, and finance.
Training to help improve decisions and overcome disagreement.
