National Night Out
In conjunction with the City of Carrollton's observance of National Night Out on Tuesday, October 13, residents of Estates of Indian Creek and Dominion at Indian Creek participated by having an organized flashlight walk in each of the three phases of the neighborhood. Phase I was led by Block Captains Sanjay S. and Sanjay W.; Phase II was led by Pam P. and Debra P.; and Dominion was led by Matt M., Jeff S., Paul K. and Bob K.
Despite having had continuous bad weather for several days, the rain fortunately let up for a few hours during the evening walk, when approximately 70 residents participated. Following the neighborhood walk, residents were treated to cookies and friendly conversation.
National Night Out was designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and foster police-community partnerships. A City of Carrollton-donated Corvette Police Cruiser drove throughout the neighborhood to add to the festivities. Other residents showed support by turning on their outdoor lights. And during the event, our helpful Crime Watch Patrolman, Brad S., surveyed the neighborhood on Segway to ensure that our homes were secure.
Thanks to those who led the walk and to those who came out and participated, our first National Night Out was successful despite the rain -- and we hope to have even more resident involvement next year!
4th of July Parade
A children's parade was held on Saturday, July 4. Children of all ages decorated their bikes, trikes, scooters, strollers -- anything with wheels -- and showed them off proudly from Saginaw to Muscogee to Apache Lake. As hot as it was, there were plenty of smiling faces around.
Crime Watch Kickoff Block Party
The Crime Watch Kickoff Block Party on June 13 was a big success. Members from all over Phase I, Phase II, and The Dominion -- homeowners, their parents, their children (lots of them!) -- mingled and enjoyed pizzas and hot dogs. The theme was to "Get To Know Your Neighbor," and it was mission accomplished!
Approximately 150 people came and went throughout the evening. Carrollton Mayor Ron Branson and new City Councilman Kevin Falconer, along with Officer Johnston of the Carrollton Police Department, and our very own Crime Watch Coordinator, Pam Parham, provided some welcoming words and shared their insights on keeping our community safe.
Thanks to Debra P., Ryan F., Diesel P., and Hina P. for their tireless efforts in planning and coordinating this huge task, which included raffle prizes, a group scavenger hunt, a bounce house for
mini-Members and live music by
Definitely Maybe that set a fun, fantastic atmosphere enjoyed by the young and old alike. Thanks also to Gary T., Sunil W., Doug L. and Dane H. for their roles on the day of the event -- it would not have gone so smoothly without their participation.
And last but not least, a special thanks to all Members who attended. By showing your support and making an effort to "Get To Know Your Neighbor," we're all one huge step closer to helping reduce crimes in our neighborhood.
