The Watershed Governance graduate conversation group seeks to understand watershed processes and governance as complex social-ecological systems. Through this group, we hope to increase our understanding of watershed governance from an interdisciplinary perspective. Members of our graduate conversation group bring together a variety of disciplines and backgrounds, including ecology, biology, geography, sociology, planning, and energy resources.  Our intent is to create a space where we can discuss emerging themes in watershed governance and critically examine existing models of water resources governance.  Some questions we will explore include:  How do we define “governance” given the complexities of water resource management?  How are current institutional arrangements shaping watershed governance?  What role could a commons framework play in watershed governance?  Is the watershed the appropriate unit of analysis for addressing water governance problems?  How are indigenous rights folded into or excluded from watershed governance?  And, what role can community science play in collaborative watershed management?
