Kallai Quartet

The Kallai Quartet, first pirze winner of the Leo Weiner Chamber Music Competition, and second prize winner of the Societa Umanitaria International Music Competition in Milano, is the latest project of Erno Kallai. With Géza Szajkó (second violinist), Kálmán Dráfi (violist), and István Balázs (cellist), all graduates from the Liszt Academy, they made their debut concert in 2015 at the Solti Hall of the Franz Liszt Music Academy including works by Haydn, Bartók, and Dohnányi. Erno Kallai as a devoted chamber musician studied the string quartet repertoire with coaches such as Earl Carlyss from the Juilliard Quartet, and Merry Peckham from the Cavani Quartet, but the quartet has also worked with Gábor Takács-Nagy from the Takács Quartet, and  János Devich from the Kodály Quartet. By combining these great schools of string quartets the Kallai Quartet brings back the Golden Era of string quartet playing.
