WATER

THINKING ABOUT WATER REQUIRES THAT WE PLAN FOR TWO THINGS;  AN IMMEDIATE WATER SUPPLY AVAILABLE  AS THE CRISIS HAPPENS, AND AN ONGOING WATER SUPPLY AFTER THE CRISIS WHEN IT IS NOT AVAILABLE THROUGH THE REGULAR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS.  IF THE SYSTEMS TOTALLY COLLAPSES, WE MUST BE PREPARED TO
  PROVIDE OUR OWN WATER.

IMMEDIATE WATER SUPPLY
A minimum of three bottles of water should be in a "Go Bag" that you have with you or can grab as you leave the disaster area to head for safety.  In addition, a straw with a built in filter can allow you to drink water that you find safely.

ONGOING WATER SUPPLY
If possible, you need to have minimum of one month of water preserved to survive on until you can provide your own. This needs to be stored where it can be protected.

PROVIDING YOUR OWN WATER
Begin now to learn how to provide your own water.  Digging a well, catching rain water, and portable filtration systems are just some of the ways safe water can be obtained.
