Wednesday 9th Ord I

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Andrea Verocchio Tobias and the Angel, National Gallery, London, 1470-80

Wednesday of the Ninth Week in Ordinary Time:

The Lord Sends His Healing Angel

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Tobit 3:1-11, 16
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 25:2-4, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9
Gospel: Mark 12:18-27

So Raphael was sent to heal them both:
to remove the cataracts from Tobit’s eyes,
so that he might again see God’s sunlight;
and to marry Raguel’s daughter Sarah to Tobit’s son Tobiah,
and then drive the wicked demon Asmodeus from her
(NAB, Tobit, 3:16-17a).

Let us pray.

Father, you send your healing angel, not only when we pray, but even before.  You are always present to us through your Word, now made flesh in Jesus, offering us forgiveness of sins and reconciliation.  Spiritual healing so empowers us that often physical healing follows.  The life that you share with us through the Word in the power of the Holy Spirit enables us in every situation never to be the victim but always the victor as was our Lord Jesus when he triumphed over the grave.  His triumph is also ours.

We pray through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
