Wednesday 24th Ord I

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Theodore Baierl, St. John the Baptist, Peter Nahum at the Leicester Galleries, Londom, 1920

Wednesday of the 24th week in Ordinary Time:                Each in Their Own Way but All in Love

Readings for Mass
First Reading: First Timothy 3:14-16
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 111:1-2, 3-4, 5-6
Gospel: Luke 7:31-35

For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, “He has a demon”; the Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners!”  Nevertheless, wisdom is vindicated by all her children (NRSV, Luke 7:33-35).’

Let us pray.

Father, as we accept the gift of your divine life always offered through the Word in the power of the Holy Spirit, we make you the center and focus of everything we are and do.  May we live out that commitment each in their own way, responding to every situation as circumstances may demand but doing all in love of you and of all of our sisters and brothers.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
