Tuesday of the Sixth Week of Easter:                   Believe and be Saved

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Acts 16:22-34
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 138:1-2, 2-3, 7-8
Gospel: John 16:5-11

‘Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’ (NRSV, Acts 16:31).

Let us pray.

Father, salvation is only through your Word, now made flesh in our Lord Jesus Christ.  How fortunate for those of us who have heard the name of Jesus and learned of who you are, Father, as you are made visible in this world through your only Son.  But blessed are we all, even those who have never heard of Jesus or lived before his coming, that your Word is present to everyone at the depth of our being always challenging us to accept your life in the Holy Spirit and to grow in it.  No one is excluded, Lord, especially those who through no fault of their own, seem to reject you but nevertheless live out your love in a way that often embarrasses those of us who are explicit believers.

May our belief, Father, never be in mere words but always be a active faith that accepts your divine life and then shares it with all of our sisters and brothers.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
