A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Januarius Zick, Christ Healing the Sick, Manchester City Galleries, 1773

Tuesday of the 23rd week in Ordinary Time:                      Power Given to All that We May Serve

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Colossians 2:6-15
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 145:1-2, 8-9, 10-11
Gospel: Luke 6:12-19

And all in the crowd were trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them (NRSV, Luke 6:19).

Let us pray.

Father, Jesus used the power that he received from you, not to dominate and to rule, but to heal.  In making us sharers in your divine life, Father, you give that same power to us.  May we use it effectively to serve one another that peace and justice may fill our lives and overcome the violence that continues to oppress humanity.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
