A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Associate of Aurifaber Workshop, Gideon is commanded to Save Israel from the Midianites, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, The Hague, c. 1275-1300

Tuesday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary time I:           Life and Power Come Only from God

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Judges 6:11-24
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 85:9, 11-12, 13-14
Gospel: Matthew 19:23-30

Gideon responded, ‘But sir, how can I deliver Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family (NRSV, Judges 6:15).’

Let us pray.

Father, of ourselves there is nothing that we can do. Everything that we are and everything that we do, all comes from you.  In the midst of our poverty may we open ourselves to hear your Word always present and speaking to us and to accept the gift of your divine life and power in the Holy Spirit. Then we can accomplish all that needs be done.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
