Thursday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time:  God’s Healing is Available to All

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Genesis 2:18-25
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 128:1-2, 3, 4-5
Gospel: Mark 7:24-30

‘Sir, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs (NRSV, Mk 7:28).’

Let us pray,

Lord, the Israelites came away from Mt. Sinai convinced that you were God only for them, that they alone were your people.  In Jesus we realize that salvation and healing are for all, that we are all your people.  And not only those who are open believers, because often those who question your very existence, or even deny it, have at the depth of their being accepted the gift of your life and are living it out in love in a way that brings shame on those of us of explicit faith.

May your grace and blessing continue to be on all peoples.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
