Thursday 23rd Ord I

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Fra Angelico, Sermon on the Mount, Convento di San Marco, Florence, 1442

Thursday of the 23rd week in Ordinary Time:                    Love Your Enemies

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Colossians 3:12-17
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 150:1-2, 3-4, 5-6
Gospel: Luke 6:27-38

“But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return (NRSV, Luke 6:35).”

Let us pray.

Father, You do good to all, even the most hardened sinner.  You offer us always, all of us, forgiveness, reconciliation and an ever-increasing share in your divine life.  You expect nothing in return, only that we accept your gift and then share it with others, loving all, even our enemies, as you love them.

May we truly make your gift our own and share it with all of our sisters and brothers, even those who hate us and do us wrong.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
