Thursday 22nd Ord I

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Raphael, The Miraculous Draught of Fishes, London, Victoria and Albert Museum, 1515-16

Thursday of the 22nd week in Ordinary Time:                   Called to be Fishers

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Colossians 1:9-14
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 98:2-3, 3-4, 5-6
Gospel: Luke 5:1-11

Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people (NRSV, Luke 5:10b).’

Let us pray.

Father, just as Jesus called Peter, so you call everyone of us to be fishers, also of our fellow sisters and brothers.  May we have the same courage that eventually filled Peter to make our response as complete and total, that service of your coming kingdom may fill and dominate everything that we do.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
