A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Matthias Scheits, Jesus Christ, Pitts Theological Library, Emory University, 1672

Thursday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time:       Keep Awake

Readings for Mass
First Reading: First Thessalonians 3:7-13
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 90:3-4, 12-13, 14, 17
Gospel: Matthew 24:42- 51

‘Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day* your Lord is coming (NRSV, Matthew 24:42).’

Let us pray.

Father, you send your Word to us at every moment, challenging us to listen and to change our lives by growing in your own divine life.  May we be ever diligent, Father, for your Word comes now and the decision must be made now.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
