June11: St. Barnabas

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

St. Barnabas

Memorial of St. Barnabas, apostle:                                       Faith made Credible

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Acts 11:21-26; 13:1-3
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 98:1, 2-3, 3-4, 5-6
Gospel: Matthew 10:7-13

Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were brought to the Lord (NRSV, Acts 11:24).

Let us pray.

Father, so often, like Paul in Athens, we make the mistake of trying to argue others into believing, in trying to communicate the faith by logical reasoing.  Faith in you rather is made credible by being lived.

Barnabas was a person full of the Holy Spirit and faith and a great many people were brought to the Lord.  May we also live out our faith in you, Father, in such a way that we may effectively share that faith with others and they too may come to believe.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
