Friday of the 22nd week in Ordinary Time:                         Peace Through the Cross

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Colossians 1:15-20
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 100:1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Gospel: Luke 5:33-39

And through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross (NRSV, Colossians 1:20).

Let us pray.

Father, Jesus gives himself totally to you at every moment, even from that first moment in Mary’s womb.  He is completely caught up in the one, true sacrifice of giving, receiving and sharing that is your inner life, making that one sacrifice effectively present and visible for us in everything that he did on earth, most clearly by his death on the Cross.  May we ever more fully say “yes” to you, Father, that we may grow in our sharing in your divine life, that the peace which you offer to humankind at every moment, most clearly manifest in Jesus, may also be ours.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
