A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Rembrandt van Rijn, The Parable of the Talents, Musée du Louvre, Paris, c. 1652

Saturday of the Twenty-first week in Ordinary Time:       Grow in the Gift That Has Been Given

Readings for Mass
First Reading: First Thessalonians 4:9-12
Responsorial Psalm:
Psalms 98:1, 7-8, 9
Gospel: Matthew 25:14-30

“For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away (NRSV, Matthew 25:29).”

Let us pray.

Father, to each of us you have given not only physical life but a share in your own divine life.  We have the opportunity to grow in that life in every moment, in every situation.  May every moment be fruitful for us as we are challenged in every instance to say “yes” to you again through the Word always present to us, a “yes” that will enable us to grow constantly in the life and power of the Holy Spirit.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
