A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Alexander Master, Jesus Heals a Lunatic Boy From a History Bible of Utrecht, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, The Hague,1430

Saturday of the Eighteenth week in Ordinary Time:          Faith to Move Mountains

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Deuteronomy 6:4-13
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 18:2-3, 3-4, 47, 51
Gospel: Matthew 17:14-20

‘For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there”, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you (NRSV, Matthew 17:20).’

Let us pray.

Father, in every moment you offer us a share in your life and growth in it.  If, in faith, we accept that gift there is nothing that needs to be done that we cannot do.  Your gift of life, accepted in faith, empowers us even to pass through death to fullness of life with you forever.  May we be truly a people of faith.

We pray through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
