“Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost (NRSV, Luke 15:6b).”

Let us pray.

Father, so often we turn away from you in sin, rejecting growth in your divine life, which you always in every situation offer us through your Word, now made flesh in our Lord Jesus Christ.  You do not wait, Father, for us to realize the evil that we have done and turn to you to beg forgiveness.  No, you are always present to us in your Word pressing forgiveness and reconciliation upon us even before we become aware of our loss.

We thank you especially for the gift of Jesus in our lives for he is the good shepherd made manifest before our eyes.  May we forever welcome him into our lives as he, the Word made flesh, as brings renewed growth in your own divine life.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
