Monday 19th Ord I

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Titian, The Tribute Money, Gemäldegalerie, Dresden, 1516

Monday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time I:          Everything from God is Gift

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Deuteronomy 10:12-22
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 147:12-13, 14-15, 19-20
Gospel: Matthew 17:22-27

From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tribute? From their children or from others?’ When Peter said, ‘From others’, Jesus said to him, ‘Then the children are free (Matthew 17:25b-26).’

Let us pray.

Father, all that you give is gift, even a share in your own life.  There is nothing we can do to earn your favour or repay you.  May we accept what you give us gladly and allow it to change us as we grow in you.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
