Monday of the Seventeenth week in Ordinary Time I: God Forgives All
Readings for Mass
So Moses returned to the Lord and said, ‘Alas, this people has sinned a great sin; they have made for themselves gods of gold. But now, if you will only forgive their sin (NRSV, Exodus 32:31-32a).'
Let us pray,
Father, how often, in the aftermath of grievous sin, we wonder if forgiveness is possible. No matter how many times we turn away from you, Father, you are always there in your Word offering us your forgiveness in the Holy Spirit even before we request it. May we always be responsive to this gift so freely given without demand for payment. And as you offer us your forgiveness may we learn as well to forgive ourselves and those who sin against us.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen
