Friday of the Seventh Week of Easter:                  Feed my Lambs

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Acts 25:13-21
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 103:1-2, 11-12, 19-20
Gospel: John 21:15-19

Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my lambs (NRSV, John 21, 15b).’

Let us pray.

Father, at Caesarea Philippi, Peter protested his faith in Jesus.  At the Sea of Tiberias, after the resurrection, he protested his love.  This is the great ministry of Peter, as shepherd of the Church, a ministry of faith and love.  It is a ministry, Father, in which all believers share.  We are all called, in union with the Word, to mediate the faith to one another, and in union with the Holy Spirit, to serve one another in love.

After his conversion, Peter gave himself completely in the service of the Church.  May we follow in his footsteps and live lives fully committed, Father, to faith in you through Jesus  and love of one another.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
