Friday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time:  And They Hid Themselves

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Genesis 3:1-8
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 32:1-2, 5, 6, 7
Gospel: Mark 7:31-37

The man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden (NRSV, Gen 3:8b).

Let us pray,

Father you love us so that you offer us a greater share in your divine life in every moment.  Even when we sin you are there calling us to repentance, always offering us your forgiveness.  We hide from you in our shame and we think that you drive us from your presence but your Word never leaves us but always calls us to repentance and renewed life in your Spirit.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
