A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Alexander Master, The Wise and Foolish Virgins, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, The Hague, 1430

Friday of the Twenty-first Week in Ordinary Time:             Keep Awake

Readings for Mass
First Reading: First Thessalonians 4:1-8
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 97:1, 2, 5-6, 10, 11-12
Gospel: Matthew 25:1-13

Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour (NRSV, Matthew 24:42).’

Let us pray.

Father, Jesus reminds us to be wise and not foolish, to be ready at every moment.  The end will comes, who knows when, but the moment for decision preparing for the end is now and cannot be postponed.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
