from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Friday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time I:             Divine Life, the Greatest of Gifts

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Joshua 24:1-13
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 136:1-3, 16-18, 21-22, 24
Gospel: Matthew 19:3-12

I gave you a land on which you had not laboured, and towns that you had not built, and you live in them; you eat the fruit of vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant. (NRSV, Joshua 24:13).

Let us pray.

Father, everything we have is gift from you, especially your own divine life which you share with us.  May we joyful accept that greatest of all possible gifts, growing in it at every moment by rejecting sin and turning to you who are our only true future.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
