Fra Angelico, Transfiguration, Convento di San Marco, Florence, 1440-41

Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord C:                         The Challenge to Manifest the Lord

Readings for Mass

First Reading: Daniel 7:9-10, 13-14
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 97:1-2, 5-6, 9
Second Reading: Second Peter 1:16-19
Gospel: Luke 9:28-36

Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white (NRSV, Luke 9:28-29).

Let us pray.

Father, your only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus, so manifested your life and your power that it radiated out from him to all around him. May we also say “yes” to the gift of your life that it too may fills us, transfigure us, and go out from us to others.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen
