Seventh Sunday of Easter C:                                  That All May Be One

That they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me (NRSV, John 17: 21).

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Acts 7:55-60
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 97:1-2, 6-7, 9
Second Reading: Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20
Gospel: John 17:20-26

Let us pray.

Father, what you have revealed to us from the beginning and at every moment through your Word always present to us, we have finally begun to understand in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, living and teaching among us.  From the beginning you have been calling us not to the Land, as we had thought from the time that Abraham left his home in Haran.  No, you have been calling us to life with you.  Just as you, Father, are one with the Word and the Holy Spirit, giving and receiving life shared in love, so you invite us to become partakers in your divinity: that all may be one.

May we, who so often think only of self and turn away from you in sin, recognize that our one, true future is in you, to grow and grow in your divine life, one with you, Father, Word and Spirit, and one with all of sisters and brothers.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
