God said to Moses, “I am who I am (Ex 3:14).

Let us pray.

Father, how wonderful that in revealing yourself to all peoples that you have revealed your very name, Yahweh, I am who I am.  For how many centuries upon centuries listening to you speak to us and we did not hear.  It was your servant Moses who finally listened and heard.

You are not a distant god, removed from his creation, not caring for his people, but one who is God for us, and loves us, even to sharing your own divine life with us, and calling us to grow continually in that life.

Your Word which Moses heard spoken from the burning bush is present to every one of us in every moment speaking to us at the depth of our being.  May we be as was Moses, ready to accept our mission from you, as best as we can understand it, and carry it out in the power of your Holy Spirit.

Moses understood, if only partially, that your mission for him was to lead your people to freedom.  That, Father, is the mission given to all, that we, in the power of the Holy Spirit, may lead one another, all people, out of the bondage of sin into the true and final freedom of your reign.  Father, may your will be done.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen
