24th Sunday Ord C

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Domenico Fetti, The Parable of the Lost Drachma, Gemäldegalerie, Dresden, 1618-20

24th Sunday in Ordinary time C:                                             Forgiveness and Reconciliation Always Offered Through the Word

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Exodus 32:7-11, 13-14
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 51:3-4, 12-13, 17, 19
Second Reading: First Timothy 1:12-17
Gospel: Luke 15:1-32 or 15:1-10

‘When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbours, saying, “Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.” Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents (NRSV, Luke 15:9-10).’

Let us pray.

Father, how fortunate we are.  Even when we sin and turn against you, through your Word ever present to us, you offer us forgiveness and reconciliation.  No payment is ever required. Only that we once again accept your life into our own and live it out, striving to love you and our sisters and brothers as you love us.  May we be worthy of your unfailing love.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
