Readings for Mass
First Reading: Sirach 3:17-18, 20, 28-29
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 68:4-5, 6-7, 10-11
Second Reading: Hebrews 12:18-19, 22-24
Gospel: Luke 14:1, 7-14

On one occasion when Jesus was going to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the sabbath, they were watching him closely (NRSV, Luke 14:1).

Let us pray.

Father, in every moment evil forces that always press in upon us are ready to trip us up that we fall.  We are grateful that your Word is always present to us offering us the life and power of your Holy Spirit that we may not only triumph over all evil but grow constantly in your divine life.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
