21st Sunday Ord C

A Pilgrim's Daily Prayer

Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

Beatus-Lorvao, The Innumerable Elect, National Arcchives of Torre da Tombo, Lisbon, 12th c.

Twenty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time C:                             All are Called

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Isaiah 66:18-21
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 117:1, 2
Second Reading: Hebrews 12:5-7, 11-13
Gospel: Luke 13:22-30

Then people will come from east and west, from north and south, and will eat in the kingdom of God (NRSV, Luke 13:29).

Let us pray.

Father, how mistaken we are in Church or Synagogue or Mosque to think that we alone are the chosen ones.  You send forth your Word to all.  Everyone, even from the womb, and in every time and place, is offered life in the Holy Spirit.  To be a human being is to be called to share in your divine life.  May we all be worthy of that calling.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
