Called through the Word to the everlasting journey in the Spirit

from nothingness to union with the One who is the Beginning and the End

The Insistent Friend From Vie de Jésus Mafa

Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time C:                           Prayer is Always Answered

Readings for Mass
First Reading: Genesis 18:20-32
Responsorial Psalm:
Psalms 138:1-2, 2-3, 6-7, 7-8
Second Reading: Colossians 2:12-14
Gospel: Luke 11:1-13

‘If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit* to those who ask him (NRSV, Luke 11:13)!’

Let us pray.

Father, so often we pray to you and pray to you and pray to you, begging you to come to our assistance.  But you are always there, already, even before we ask.  In every situation, in every moment, you offer to us your Holy Spirit through the Word always present to us.  In the power of that same Holy Spirit we become capable to do all that needs to be done.  We, Father, not you, are the ones who must change in response to our prayers, taking up the power of the Spirit that is always offered.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen
