 Giovanni Segantini:  The Plough

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time C:                                            Only One Thing Matters – The Kingdom of God

Readings for Mass
First Reading: First Kings 19:16-21
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 16:1-2, 5, 7-8, 9-10, 11
Second Reading: Galatians 5:1, 13-18
Gospel: Luke 9:51-62

Jesus said to him, ‘No one who puts a hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God (NRSV, Luke 9:62).’

Let us pray.

Father, we are all human beings because you share your divine life with us and call us to grow in that life in every moment here in this world and in the world to come.

Father, may we accept your gift as the one reality that governs our lives and order all else under it.

Having put our hand to the plough even from that first moment in our mother’s womb, may we strive never to look back but always move forward towards continued growth in you, our one, true Future.

Through Christ our Lord.  Amen
